As widespread propaganda is taking place against the ill effects of smoking, recent research has come up with one more important finding that smoking can make a person deaf.  I am sure no one of us would like to take away the gift of hearing from our children and family. Yes it is good to stop smoking to hear better and live in a world with its melodious sounds.

Yes smokers you have every reason to give up smoking to give your family and friends the gift of hearing. When one smokes one does not only harm him or her alone but also all the people around who live near them. There has been case of people who have died of lung cancer who just had a person in their family who smoked. Passive smoking affects not only your family members but also affects your friends and colleagues. Besides I am sure we would also like to protect our family and friends from the third hand smoking harmful effects. You are right, smokers affect not only their family and children by passive smoking, but also leave residues of the smoke and other contaminants on the floor, carpets, and furniture of the room they smoke in causing harm even to infants who crawl. There is every need to prevent ones infant from third hand smoking.

The nicotine inhaled or contacted physically by smoking can cause problems like heart disease, hypertension, breathing problems and cancer. However nicotine, being an ototoxic drug could also cause various ill effects like hearing disorders, tinnitus, dizziness and vertigo. Nicotine has also a constricting effect on the blood vessels, which also applies to the tiny blood vessels in the ear also. Ultimately this constriction leads to cut or deficiency of blood supply to the ear making the person experience temporary or permanent loss of hearing.

The other aspect is that nicotine encourages the production of free radicals that could cause harmful effects to health. These free radicals could also affect the inner ear and cause temporary or permanent loss of hearing.

Hearing of a person could also be affected by loud sounds. Smoking or inhaling of nicotine has the effect of increasing sensitivity to sound. Yes smokers, first hand, passive or third hand can lead to higher sensitivity to sound and cam even lead to permanent loss of hearing. Most of us go through the natural process of deficient hearing as one age. Being a smoker could aggravate or hastens this natural process. Loss of hearing could cause misery to a human being.

To conclude dear friends, kick out the habit of smoking to get a get a temporary kick of moods. Do weigh the consequences of being a non-smoker before you light your next cigarette. I am sure you will as you care for yourself in particular and humanity in general. .
