Sugar is white poison. Millions of people all over the world cannot do with out their daily dose of sugar. Yet it remains with out question one of the most unhealthy items on out diet to day. What makes it so dangerous is that it is nutritionally naked and unfortunately addictive.

Sugar has a strong stimulating energy and can give you a quick boost of energy. That is the reason a can of soft drink can give you the instant high. One sip of it and it makes you want for more. And abruptly giving up sugar invariably brings on the sort of withdrawal symptoms associated with narcotic drugs- fatigue, depression, moodiness, headaches, aching limbs.

Natural sugar such as jaggery, honey, fruits and fruits are healthy substitute for sugar. What white sugar can do to your body is really frightening.

*Since sugar is empty calories devoid of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, the body must borrow these to metabolize sugar from its own tissues, which strains it, depletes it. It robs the body for instance, of vitamin B, the energy-giver; by the same token, it can suppress the immune system.

* Sugar can cause hyperactivity, anxiety, difficulty with concentration and crankiness in children.

*Sugar can produce a significant rise in triglycerides and in cholesterol levels.

*Sugar can cause heart problems.

*Sugar can cause premature ageing because it changes the structure of collagen.

* Sugar causes osteoporosis.

*Sugar can lower the amount of vitamin E in the blood.

* Sugar causes eczema in children.

*Sugar causes constipation in children.

* Cancer cells multiply with sugar. Sugar, in excess, may be one of the causes of cancer especially prostrate cancer.

*In women sugar increases PMS.

* High sugar intake causes epileptic seizures.

Healthy Options:

*Organic Jaggery: Useful for curing problems like cough, constipation, indigestion, It is also a good source of iron and helps to prevent anaemia.

*Cane Sugar/Sugarcane juice: Contains Vitamins B and C and is rich in organic salts, calcium, iron and manganese. It is recommended in anaemia and jaundice.

*Honey: It strengthens the heart, and is a natural and gentle laxative. Honey is also an excellent blood purifier.

 *Fresh and dried Fruits: Contains necessary vitamins and minerals required for the metabolism of sugar.
