The war against cancer is still on. But by eating the right food we can keep cancer away from us. Various factors such as heredity, smoking, alcohol, unhealthy lifestyle etc are known culprits. Also some foods cause cancer. On the other hand there are some foods which can lessen the risk of cancer. Today I am going to talk about fruits and vegetables which can reduce the risk of cancer.
We should eat a lot of green leafy vegetables to lower the rate of stomach cancer. Spinach, fenugreek leaves, spring onions and herbs such as coriander, mint and parsley has a lot of cancer-fighting antioxidants.
Beta-carotene present in carrots is believed to prevent cancer. It helps in lowering the growth of isolated cancer cells. So it is time to snack on carrots.
Cruciferous vegetables include cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower; Brussels sprouts have cancer fighting agents. These help lower the risk of colorectal, ling, liver, stomach, skin and prostate cancer. Broccoli helps to fight breast, lungs, liver, stomach, skin and prostate cancer. It contains protective enzymes which help in fighting cancer and cleanses out cancer causing- chemicals.
If you have the vegetables raw the effect is better. So stir fry or toss your cruciferous vegetables or have it raw in salads or make stuffing out of these vegetables in your sandwiches.
Oranges, lemons, guava and papaya contain Vitamin C, which works as an antioxidant and helps fight cancer cells. Berries contain phytochemicals called anthocyanins, which helps in slowing down the growth of cancer. Grapes, grape juice or red wine in moderation are good for cancer prevention and good for your heart as well.
