Satya Sai Baba - God or Magician Dies an Ordinary Death

No miracle could save god man who thought he would live to be 96.

Satya Sai Baba believed he was reincarnation of Sai Baba of Sidhi and started performing miracles from the age of 14 years. Some believed all this was hoax but the majority thought he indeed had the powers he claimed. His most famous trick was to produce the red Vibhuti from nowhere. However I have seen many magicians doing the same. He was also known to conjure gold rings, Roles watches, laddus etc.

His devotes included the rich, the famous and the common man. One of his ardent devotees was Sachin Tendulakar. Sachin yesterday probably had premonition of Baba’s death as he declared that he would not celebrate his 38th birthday and the rumors were that he would not play in today's IPL match at Hyderabad. Maybe he wanted to go to Putttapathi and visit Baba. He had visited him before the world cup started and took his blessings.

He was the richest of all the Indian Godman. The trust funds and properties are estimated to run into Rs.50,000 crores or more.

I have known many of his devotees who swear by him, I also know doctors who have worked in his hospital. I have also heard some horror stories from his ashram. He also has been accused of murder and pedophilia. 2011 has been the year of scams in India and I think with his death many of these things will start coming out in the open. It is going to be difficult for the ashram officials to put a curb on this. The need of the hour is preserve some of the good work being done by his trust.  The trust can do wonders for India with all its money clout.
