DNB exam is highly structured. It is the toughest exam in our country. As aresult many foreign countries recognize this degree. However students dread the practical exams. The failure rate is quite high. The reason for that is poor preparation and faulty approach.Students forget the basic concept that it is an exam for consultants. Hence the mind set of the candidate should be conceptually correct. For that one has to work hard for three years with a good surgeon who is himself conceptually sound. I have been training DNB students for quite some time. i have observed that students who are good in ward work and get their concepts right are the one's who pass at the first attempt. One has to go to the exam with a open mind i.e. should expect any sort of clinical case to be encountered. The approach should be the same as that with which we treat patients on a day to day basis. This is exactly what the examiners expect from the candidates. There are a lot of resources for preparation. Right choice of these resources is very important.attending good review courses is beneficial. If anyone is encountering difficulty in preparation you can contact me for guidance.
