There are many myths and truths about hair-care. But how many of them are actually true? Here I am to break the myths and prove the facts.
Myth 1: Pregnant women can’t dye their hair:
False
It is safe to dye your hair when you are expecting a baby, at any stage. But older dyes have higher levels of chemicals, and hence they should be avoided. There is very little amount of chemical from the dyes that gets absorbed in the maternal blood stream. Hence, it is safe to use dyes and hair colours during pregnancy.
Myth 2: A cold water rinse would close the cuticles of your hair and make it look shiny:
False
When you go to a salon where they give you a cold water blast hair-wash, it feels refreshing and rejuvenating, but it does nothing to your hair in general. The degree of openness and closeness of the hair cuticles does not depend on the temperature of water. Maybe conditioners would help you to make your hair shinier, but not cold water.
Myth 3: Brush your hair with 100 strokes every day:
False
If you brush your hair with 100 strokes every day, it would lead to spilt ends, weaken your hair and cause them fall.
Myth 4: Wearing ponytails would face frequent hair falls:
True
Braids and ponytails strain your hair from the roots, which cause weakening and breaking of them. So it is always advised not to tie your hair tight with a rubber band, and leave them open as much as possible.
Myth 5: Going out in wet hair could make you fall sick:
False
Forget about your grandmother’s tips that she used to nag you with. Going out in wet hair does not make you feel sick. Wet hair does not attract germs to your body, and hence there are no chances of you falling sick at all.
