Heart attack is very common now and they can affect even young and active people. But with advancement in medical sciences, you can live almost a normal life. All you need to do is modify your lifestyle and eating habits and inculcate a regular exercise and treatment routine.

 

After the heart attack the way you are asked to resume your work gradually, it is also advisable to resume your sex life as well.  The most common sexual problem you may suffer as a heart patient, are psychological in origin and have little to do with your heart conditions. Your fear, worries or depression post a heart attack may reduce your sexual desire. Or you may be afraid that if you have sex, you might get a heart attack from all the excitement.

 

Men who have suffered a heart attack may suffer from impotency, premature or delayed ejaculation, but these problems may have existed before the anginal conditions or heart attack and worsened afterwards. Sometimes because of the medicines used for heart attack, it decreases the libido of a person and it may lead to impotency as well.

 

Normal sexual activity cannot be as strenuous like carrying heavy weight of ten or fifteen kgs, or going for a long distance walk or playing a game of tennis or golf. Load on the heart during sexual activity depends on the level of excitement and posture adopted. Minimize pressure on the heart during sexual intercourse by adopting relaxed postures. Avoid sex immediately after heavy meals. However patients should consult their doctors before resuming their sex life.
