Life is a beautiful dream and it remains so for people who knows how to tackle all the ups and downs of it. However this may not be the case for everyone and we find various stumbling blocks that stand in the way of good health and happiness. It is true that most of us experience stress and depression at some time of our life or at most times. Some may be able to row the boat of life easily, but others may become prone to depression and stress, which could cause various physical symptoms like pains, aches, high blood pressure, sugar and even heart related conditions like heart attack.

It is true that just like poor physical health could cause various mental health symptoms like anxiety, depression, hysteria and so on, these very mental disorders due to stress and other conditions like loneliness, seclusion and tension in the environment could cause various physical symptoms like headaches, muscular pains, chest pain, back pain, digestive disorders, problems with appetite, loss or gain of weight, dizziness, lack of sleep and high or low blood pressure. These tensions, worries and depression could also show up as increase of sugar level in the blood or even heart diseases.

Many who undergo such symptoms may at times even be unable to know why they are experiencing some symptoms. Doctors may examine them but find nothing wrong physically and also may find it very difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. It would be worthwhile here to understand that the same factors might not cause stress and depression at all. In addition there could be a number of causes; physical, psychological, hereditary or environmental that trigger these symptoms that have got nothing to do with physical health.

Stress; environmental or psychological factors could be one of the major causes for depression that are clinical and have nothing to do with physical ailments. Environmental stresses could be the stress faced by a housewife in balancing her family responsibilities, a wife facing an abusive relationship with her husband, a child being mentally tormented for poor performance at school, a person having to face a difficult and egoistic boss at work and a mother being ill treated by her children. Psychological stresses could be caused by neglect, boredom, loneliness, or due to depression caused by certain life-threatening diseases as cancer, heart disorders and diseases or due to some major illness or disorder in one of the member of a family like retardation.

The best cure for these mental disorders lies in counseling and therapy and most of the so-called physical symptoms just vanish once a person feel less stressed and depressed. It is best if the person experiencing such symptoms is able to open out and tell out his/her problems, tensions and concerns and is helped with suitable solutions. However the mere act of telling out or pouring out ones problems helps the person get relief.

Counseling by well-qualified counselors could help in cases where a person finds it very difficult to open out to friends and relatives. These professionals help to find out the cause of ones physical and mental ailments and could help bring out such information and help a depressed person to help oneself. Besides, therapists help patients to help themselves to develop confidence and self-esteem and be proficient enough to help themselves.

To conclude, dear friends, stress and depression could cause various physical health symptoms and show signs of increased blood sugar, high blood pressure, heart attacks and muscle aches and pains. Whatever the trigger; environmental or psychological, it is purely in our hands to find out the root cause and improve our physical and mental health by reducing stress and taking aid of counseling and therapy.
