Why has organic colours become a big deal today in Holi, and what are the side-effects of using chemical colours.  Here is the scoop of the health hazards of the chemicals used in Holi colours:

The colour Green is extracted from copper sulphate -which could cause allergies in eye or temporary blindness.

 

 

Thes colour Purple is extracted from chromium iodide - which could cause bronchial asthma and other types of allergy.

 

 

The colour Silver is extrected from aluminum bromide – which is a well-known carcinogenic.

 

 

The colour Black is extracted from lead oxide - may cause renal failures and even lead to learning disability. 

 

 

The colour Red is obtained from mercury sulphite – which could cause skin cancer or mental retardation, paralysis, impaired vision to name a few.

 

 

The Shiny Colours are a result of powdered glass that are being added to the colours to give a shining touch to the colours.
