Here is am story of a boy who was considered dead after a snake bite and came to meet his family after 13 years to start living with them again. Yes, dear friends this is what happened just 2 days back on the 5th of April 2010 and I thought I would share it with all my friends. It is no fiction, but absolutely true.

Amit, an 8 years old belonging to a family from Bihar was thought dead after snakebite. It was a custom that any child who died of snakebite was not cremated, but tied to a raft made of banana leaves and floated on a river. It was hoped that the child might come back home again. Amit was also given the same treatment and floated on the Ganges.

And it turned out true. This Monday the 5th of April, Amit, belonging to the Paswan family returned home after 13 years. His family had given him out to be dead and had gracefully accepted their faith. Yes, a young man aged 21 dressed in saffron robes came and knocked at the door of parent’s house in Koylikhutha village in Bhagalpur district of Bihar.

The young man claiming to be Amit and told them that he was their son, who was given up for dead 13 years back. The Paswans just thought someone was up to playing a very rude joke on them. Upon the young man’s insistence, the parents and his elder brother Sanjay tried to trace real evidences. Amit was right. He could recognize many people in the village. Besides he had the birthmark behind his ears, which his mother recognized. And he had the cut on the forefinger of his left hand that was made to remove poison from his body.

The local doctors had declared Amit who was unconscious dead. The question now arose that where was Amit all these years. Some holy men in West Bengal, who realized there was still some life in him, had seen Amit’s body. They were instrumental in giving him a new life. The holy men told him he could go to his village only after being with them for 12 years. He could then decide whether he would lead a normal family life or the life of an ascetic. If his family failed to realize him he had to go back and live among them as a member of their sect. However Amit was happy to be with his family who recognized him and considered his homecoming as a blessing.

Yes, dear friends, what do you think of this story- a fiction or reality? There are such cases even today that seem so unreal in the world of advanced technology and medical care. But it is real – believe it or not.
