Did you know pumpkins are excellent for our health? They are virtually fat-free and help in reducing cholesterol. Dried roasted pumpkin seeds are great source of protein, vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids. Since it is so high in vitamins and fibre it helps in improving immunity and fight free radicals.

 

It is packed with B-complex group of vitamins such as folates, niacin, vitamin-B-6, thiamin and pantothenic acid and minerals like copper, calcium, iron and phosphorus. It helps to fight cardiovascular diseases and hypertension. Its seeds as well as pulp offer magnesium, potassium and zinc needed for good health and immunity.

 

It is high in beta-carotene quotient, an antioxidant that converts to Vitamin A and helps to reduce risk of certain cancers and heart diseases.

 

Pumkins help in flushing out toxins, but too much can lead to dehydration. Also too much of beta-carotene can give a yellow tinge to the skin. So don’t get over bored with pumpkin and eat it in moderation.
