If you are a diabetic and yet you want to drink alcohol there are certain steps you should keep in mind. The mix of alcohol and certain diabetes medications can lead to hypoglycemia. It was lower the blood sugar drastically. So a diabetic patient needs to be careful. You should check your blood glucose before going to bed.

 

High blood sugar which can lead to seizure attack. You speech can get slurrish and you might faint. This can be easily mistaken for intoxication. So you should go for a drink only with a friend who is aware of these symptoms.

 

You should not drink when you have an empty stomach. Before drinking you should have a heavy meal that is to keep the blood glucose in a safe level.

 

If you pass out due to hypoglycemia it is advisable that you always carry some sugary candies, toffees’ or chocolates with you which might come handy to raise your blood sugar level. Candies will help to revive to your senses.
