Did you ever try finding out as to why kids throw tantrums? The best way to tame the tantrum is to understand as to why such innocent creatures can turn into such tantrum masters. Sometimes these tantrums are used by kids as means of communication to reach out to their caregivers.

Sometimes kids gets irritated and starts throwing tantrums if they are experiencing fatigue because of hunger, thirst or sleep. I have seen my son doing it especially when he is sleepy or hungry. It is important for the parents to understand their problems through the kid’s perspective. A kid sometimes gets frustrated even with simple he is unable to do like when he is struggling with his shoelace or when he unable to find his favourite toy.

Tantrum in kids is a way of self expression of distress. The child may be bullied in school, ignored or unsettled by relationship issues around him. Tantrum is way they vent out their frustration. The question that arises is how do we deal with the tantrum? Talking it out is the best way to deal with tantrum. Don’t allow tantrum to escalate, but just prevent it in the very beginning.

As a parent we should also keep our temper under control. We should use sympathetic tone. If the parent is as agitated as the child, then there is no solution. Stay calm and never get agitated during a tantrum. All these things are easier said than done. Also mimicking the child’s agitation will flare up the tantrum of the child even more.   Try and distract your child with some out of the box ideas.
