 Diabetic ketoacidosis,is a life-threatening condition caused by a lack of insulin and high blood sugar.

Casey Johnson, the great-great-granddaughter of the co-founder of Johnson & Johnson , died due to diabetic ketoacidosis recently.

Casey's coroner Ed Winter said that she wasn’t taking good care of herself. As soon as the reports of Casey's death were out, panic and frenzy overwhelmed the internet surfers who were desperately trying to find out information about “Diabetic ketoacidosis.”


The first and foremost symptom of prior undiagnosed diabetes is Diabetic ketoacidosis .

Causes

Poor compliance with insulin therapy is one of the causes for diabetic ketoacidosis.

Symptoms of Diabetic ketoacidosis

  • Dehydration,
  • Deep gasping
  • Confusion 
  • Occasional coma.


How can the illness be cured?


  • Proper compliance with insulin therapy
  •  The patient’s dehydration level should be corrected through intravenous fluids (solutions of mineral salts or other water-soluble molecules / insoluble molecules, such as gelatin).
