Exercising, meditating and practicing simple breathing exercises will help to manage stress. It also lifts depression, improves overall health and reduces stress. Exercise releases a hormone called endorphin in the brain, which is a mood elevating hormone.

Avoid temptation. You are much more likely to overeat if you have junk food and desserts and unhealthy snacks in the house. If you are fridge is filled with junk food it is time to declutter.

Get enough sleep. If you are tired, you may want to keep eating in order to boost your energy. Learn to distinguish between physical and emotional hunger. Remember emotional eating can be killing. If you ate recently and do not have a stomach which is rumbling to eat, give the craving time to pass.

Keep a food diary. Write down what you eat and how you are feeling after eating it. You may see patterns that reveal the connection between the moods and binge eating.

Find good friends or a family member with whom you can share your feelings. If you lack support there will be a tendency to overeat.
