What is lactose intolerance?


Lactose intolerance is intolerance towards dairy and dairy products. This is due to an enzyme called lactase in the milk into simple sugars to absorb in the body.

Low levels of lactase in the small intestine causes growth of intestinal bacteria in some people, which leads to symptoms of lactose intolerance.
