Materials & Methods: Between February 2004 and September 2005 10 children were operated for hydrocephalus in Chttagram Maa-Shishu O General Hospital. Three patients did not come for follow up after one or two visits and thus excluded. Age, sex, associated problems, pre and post operative neroassesment of the remaining 7 patients were done.

Results: Age ranged from 7 days to 9 months at the time of operatin and M:F ratio was 3:4. Three cases were of isolated hydrocephalus and 4 had associated spina bifida. Significant improvement in sensory and cognitive function was observed following V-P shunt.

Conclusions: V-P shunt procedure aids in nerulogical development in children with hydrocephalus.
