I find an increasing incidence of kidney stones in Chennai. Most patients are young people, and many are women. Maybe the result of a warmer weather. I have been practising for last 14 years here but see that in the last two years there is definitely a spurt. Previously there were not many women suffering from stone disease. People have to drink more water and avoid dehydration. The other factor could be increasing use of air-conditioners. The blow hot -blow cold effect also adds to the dehydration factor.
I wonder if there is some truth in what I write, I hope to see a response in the coming months to my blog post, maybe other urologist can do a survey on this topic or have an online ongoing incident study.
