Innovation in medical exams

Medical exams in our country are rapidly decaying in standards. With increase in the number of medical students and acute shortage of clinical material in medical colleges, these exams have become a big joke Examiners are to be blamed for this. Few believe in passing everyone without proper asssessment while others indulge in corruption.The internal assessment system introduced in undergraduate medical education system has failed to produce any positive effect on learning. Instead it has become a big source of income for corrupt heads of deparment.

The apex regulatory body should take cognisance of this and try to implement innovative methods of examination such as the OSCE system which is being practised in Europe and North America.
