It is easy for anyone to say that to enjoy good mental and emotional health one should be positive in life and build up good and fruitful relationships. It is also easy to say one should cultivate mutually advantageous relationships. However there may be people who have suffered from great mental and emotional stress due to certain factors that were or not in their control and may be having mental and emotional problems. The mental and emotional health of a person is shaped also by early childhood experiences and traumas as well as genetic and biological factors. Yes, one could be prone to emotional and mental problems even if one has close relatives that have been prone to mental and emotional problems.

 

 

Many children who have not experienced the security, love and affection of parents may be prone to feeling lonely, isolated, confused or abused as a child. Their parents may have been too busy with their own life like their career or other social and club activities and may not care or give time to their children. Besides some children may be mentally, physically or sexually abused. Children in the growing years need the love and affection and counsel of their parents on various issues of life. It is best that parents have no children if they do not realize their moral and social responsibility  These children should be given the chance to speak out and be given treatment and therapy to overcome these negative feelings.. 

 

 

Traumatic experiences and serious losses during early childhood like the death of a parent/parents, a sibling, a near and dear one or hospitalization for a serious disease can cause scars on a child’s mental and emotional lives for a life time. However the human environment and therapy can help most of such people to realize and reflect on their feelings and know that in spite of their feelings, thoughts and behavior it is necessary for them to get a realistic view of life.

 

 

Yes, negative thoughts and emotions give one a feeling of being useless, helpless and bored and creates mental and emotional problems. The cure to such feelings lies in doing something rather than just sinking into such emotions. Their friends and the people around who care for them can make them get a realistic view of things. They could be made to feel failure doesn’t mean the end of everything but is a chance to prove oneself better.   

 

Certain debilitating illnesses can lead to certain disabilities that could cause mental and emotional problems in a person. Also the side-effects of certain medications could also cause such effects. Besides, drinking, smoking and drug abuse could also lead to such conditions of emotional or mental illness. Yes, it lies in our own will-power to overcome these feelings caused by emotional and mental disorders. If one wishes one can create positive thoughts and emotions and lead a fruitful life.

 

Creating and cultivating positive thoughts and emotions can be done by mixing with positive people, appreciating positive aspects of life and thanking God for all the good we have. In addition living in the present and putting aside the past that is gone and cannot be changed can help one feel enthusiastic and positive about the present, leading to better mental and emotional health. The future is yet to come and not in our hands too, so one should only concentrated on the present.

 

To sum up, dear friends whatever be the factors for your being low mentally, and emotionally do realize your psychological well-being is only in your hands. Put aside the past, turn positive by positive thoughts, emotions and by mixing with positive people. Yes do remember and use positive influences to live a great mental and emotional life. However at last do not forget that mutually satisfying relationships cultivated by conscious action can boost mental and emotional health.
