What’s Eating You?

I have a problem with my weight. I do not get time for an hour long gym session. Then one fine day looking at my old photographs I realized that how slim and fit I looked. I again had a look at my recent photographs and I hated the way I looked. I realized that it is time to be a little selfish and take charge of my life and my self.

The first step towards a better you is to think positive. Feeling negative about your body is bad news for all kinds of reasons. A disturbed body image can lead to eating disorders, loss of sexual desire, depression, anxiety, low self esteem and failure. It can have a terrible impact on your life. You will start hating your self and will unnecessarily get depressed and will affect your relationship with your family members and friends as well.

Be careful with your diet, but do not go on a crash diet. Dieting slows down your metabolism and you can pile up lots and lots of weight when you stop. Instead avoid all things wrong and be active. Fitness expert Rashi Raj says, “People who exercise regularly and are consistent with their wok out schedules have a much fitter body.” Become more familiar with your body and focus on aspects of yourself you like.

Look beyond the mirror. Your reflection is not all you are. Think of the miracle that your body is, and of the power it has. You might not be able to fit into a pair of skin tight jeans, but that does not mean that you do not look good. But that does not mean you should stop taking care of your self. Do what works for you and wear what ever you are comfortable in.
