What goes behind Looking Good?

With today’s youngsters the buzz is to look healthy and not be healthy. Everybody is pressurized to look good. They are always obsessing about their weight and shape. Not surprising people are desperate to look good they resort to desperate means and often fall prey to life threatening methods in the process of looking good.

I had a friend who was nice and chubby and was full of energy. She was happy about the way she looked. But soon she too got bitten by the slimming bug and headed to the anti-obesity clinic. She too became slim or shall I say anorexic. Her charm vanished and her energy too. She started looking anorexic. Soon she became like a cage of bones. Her happy mood was replaced by her depressing mood.

Looking good is not restricted to just weight loss. It is about looking and feeling fit from within. When people resort to desperate measures they do not think about the long term damage caused. In the desperation of looking slim people can have a lot of problems like hair loss, impotency, premature aging and internal organ damage or failure.

Cosmetic surgery may be advertised to be safe, but it is not. Everything has a side effect. The operation can go wrong and there is a danger of post operative complications. It is high time we realize that it is more important to be healthy, fit and fine than to just look sinfully sexy and slim. That again does not mean it is fine to be obese, but overweight should be controlled by proper exercising and proper diet. One should not go on crash diet or over exercise. One should take it easy and give himself some time. There are absolutely no short cuts that are healthy. He or she needs to be consistent. One needs to aim for fitness, the byproduct of which can be weight loss.

One cannot expect to look like a model. She or he is a professional. For a model looking good is his bread and butter and so he cannot afford to put on weight. We on the other hand have our own professional demands and hence we cannot afford to add health complications to it. We have our own professional pressures and so we need to maintain a fit mind and body.
