Whether you are travelling by road, taking the rail or flying you need to prepare yourself well before taking your child out.

If you are travelling by car, the first thing you should do is to install an age-proof car seat. Secure it on the back and ever in the front. Babies generally do not suffer from motion sickness, so you may not need to give an anti-emetic, but you should keep it handy in case of emergency if you are travelling up the hill. One of the parents should sit at the back so that he or she can attend the baby and keep him happy. Keep lots of toys to keep your baby happy and entertained and stop often for short or long breaks.

Kids generally enjoy train journey. Book your tickets in advance so that you get the lower birth and it is less stressful for you and the baby. The only issue that may bother you is that your baby might cry in the night and at the same time the hygiene part. Keep a changing mat, wipes and a hand sanitizer. Carry enough baby food and completely avoid train food. Carry his favourite toys. Don’t leave your baby alone with fellow passengers.

Book your tickets in advance even when you are flying by air. Book in advance and try to travel on the least-travelled days. Best is to travel during mid-weeks. Request for front seats that will give you extra space to stretch your legs. As the plane takes off or lands nurse your baby, or give him a bottle or pacifier otherwise the baby might have altitude-related ear- problem. Ask your pediatrician about sedatives. If you are travelling to a different time one then adjust his schedule a little every day, starting a week before travelling.
