Sleep During Pregnancy

Sleep during pregnancy is a problem. Sleep could be disturbed due to frequent urination, indigestion or feeling uncomfortable on bed.

Sleeping position is very important. Lying on the back or belly could pose problems. But lying on the left side would benefit the baby and reduces swelling of hands, ankles andeg ls of the mother. When the mother lies on the left side, the fetus gets good blood circulation which helps in normal growth of fetus.

Sleep could be made better if there is a proper sleep routine. The mother should go to bed at a particular time. Spicy food in the night should be avoided. Light nutritious food could be taken. Exercise would help the mother as it relaxes the body and gives good sleep. A warm bath before going to bed would also help. The bedroom should have the proper room temperature. It should not be too cold or warm. A proper sleeping atmosphere is important. The mother can hear music, read a book or meditate on pleasant things to relax her mind and get better sleep. So, these are some tips to keep in mind when pregnant women have sleep problems.
