Sharpen your mind: Drink water

Are you breaking your head trying to find a solution to a problem? Then a glass of water may solve the problem! A new study has confirmed that drinking water sharpens your mind. Researchers say that being thirsty may take away your attention from the task.


The harmone vasopressin linked to attention also activates thirst response. A study tested 34 adults who were asked to abstain from food and water from 9pm and come to the laboratory for testing the next day. They were asked to visit the lab twice, on the first occasion they were given a cereal bar with water in the morning and in the second day a cereal bar without water. To test their sharpness they were asked to press a button as soon as they saw an object on the computer screen.



Results showed that the ones who had water were 14% faster than the ones who had no water. So sharpen your wits by drinking water. Frontiers in Human neuroscience published the findings.
