To possess a young shapely neck is everyone’s desire and to possess that desirable neck you need not go under the scalpel. Yoga is one of the best ways to shape your neck and make it look firm and taut.

Now the obvious question that arises is that why does the skin sag particularly on the neck. Some people have excessive fat which deposits in such spots which are less utilized by the body. People who are thin also have sagging skin around the neck that is because they lack good fat which is there in Omega 3 and 6 in their diet. Good fat is very important to keep the skin looking young and firm. Stress is another cause for sagging skin because it leads to a lot of damage to the tissue causing the skin to lose its firmness. Lack of protein in the diet can lead to sagging. To keep your skins looking young and toned include a lot of protein in your diet. We have a tendency to concentrate only on the face. So do not neglect your neck. Moisturize your neck generously the way you moisturize your face.

Yoga again is excellent for your neck because every pose exerts pressure on the neck. In most of the poses you either have to look up or down. Your neck is worked out thoroughly in each and every pose. There are some poses which completely stretch out the skin at the neck, holding it in the fashion against the pull of gravity. This improves the circulation of the body making it look young. Improved circulation makes your skin look young. These stretches help in improving the natural inner balance which in turn has an anti-aging effect. Improved metabolism due to yoga also means your food is better utilized in the preparation of collagen which is a natural firming fibre under the skin. Better blood circulation also prevents dryness and in the long run prevents the skin from aging. Doing the matsyasana (fish pose) in yoga tones the neck region. It is good for the thyroid glands. Boosts respiration and it keeps the face youthful because it is a complete stretch of the neck and the face.
