An entertaining way of keeping fit that is catching up in the city is Zumba. Zumba is a dance fitness work out that combines moves from Latin American dance forms such as meringue, salsa, reggaeton, soca, cha cha and sambang. The work out, however, isn’t limited to these forms- there is often a Bollywood number along with  a little hip and hop and belly dancing. The work involves intense cardiovascular activity. In a single session one can burn up to 1,000 calories.

 

Music during zumba sessions does not stop. There is a lot of resistance training involved in this form of dance. The body relaxes and works out with the rhythm of zumba since the music has a lot of high beats and low beats. And when you mix up two or three work outs together, it becomes all the more effective. Zumba is a complete body work out. It tones up the arms, abs, glutes and thighs.

 

The main aim of zumba is to make us feel happy. So the main emphasis is that one should enjoy the classes. Zumba is indeed a great way to increase your happiness quotient.

 

Children too enjoy going for zumba classes as it makes them feel happy. It is good for them because it helps to boost their metabolism, raises their self confidence and at the same time helps in coordinating different body parts.

 

During the sessions, all Latin dance movements are more exaggerated and are used to address various body areas. Aqua zumba is also becoming very popular with people with joint pains. It gives relief from joint pains and at the same time as there is more resistance in water, it is helpful for them.
