I thought on the morn of the International Women’s Day  there is great importance in the context of bringing up a girl child to be a woman with high self-esteem and confidence to face the world at large. Yes, the future of the girl child the woman of tomorrow needs to be nurtured at each stage of growth of the girl child.

The first step towards the thousand miles of bringing up a girl child with self-esteem starts in early childhood. It has been well said by people in India that the girl child is just like the Goddess Laxmi; the goddess of wealth or so to say that a girl child should be given the status of a goddess. However the status is quite to the contrary with people commenting in the negative sense that a girl child is born to sinners only. However, it is best to remember that every human being is born of a mother, who was once a girl child.

So it is best that a woman takes it upon herself to eradicate this evil in society and  gives her equal rights as her brother in everything. There are age-old notions especially in the underdeveloped countries that a son protects his parents in old age or carries on the name of the family. However it is worthwhile to notice that in actual practice we find in most cases that a daughter always remains a daughter, but a son remains a son only until he gets a wife. Yes, every parent needs to praise a girl child for all her good qualities and point out how useful she is in society. It is also upon parents to tell their girl child that she is different from her brother in bodily features, but she too lives on this earth to acquire and enjoy worthwhile positions as a daughter, wife, mother, daughter-in-law and a grandmother.

The society in general,  plays a vital role in a girl child’s life by creating fear in them. They are told they hold a secondary position as a daughter, wife,  daughter-in-law and mother. So if they are not submissive they will be doomed. Also girl children on acquiring puberty are told various false stories and are made superstitious. However I would like to tell each mother and society in general that fear should be removed off a girl child’s mind. Menstrual cycles are part of the reproduction process of every woman.

Yes, dear parents never assume that it is wrong to praise your girl child or make her aware of her positive points. These habits are to be praised and they have to be made aware of how certain qualities of the mind can make them live a bold life.  Your girl child has to be made to feel worthy of her and made to feel she is an asset in life. She needs to live a life of self esteem, so do encourage your girl child to decide things for herself when she is a bit grown up, to develop that confidence and faith in herself.

Never encourage negative thinking in your girl child who is going to rule the world by means of her child and her own qualities. Yes, women, the future girl child is peace loving, diplomatic, practical and empathetic by nature and could do a lot to remove the tension and stress engulfing the world today. Make her change her way of thinking into a more positive angle. Like if your girl child thinks she is low than her brother because she gets her monthly cycles, make your girl child aware of the fact that she by virtue of her this position is responsible for what is going to take place in future. She is even possible to produce the Prime Minister of a country, the Secretary General of the UNO or probably even the President of the World bank.

To conclude, dear proud parents of a girl child you have a lot to gain than to lose by your girl child. You have produced a girl child who will rock the cradle and rule the world and has all the potential to produce great people. So do expose her for the realities of life, educate her and make sure to make your girl child aware of it and promote her self-esteem and confidence, so you find her ruling a country, prestigious organization or find her off-spring doing it.
