Fruits During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is an important period in a woman's life. She undergoes immense physical and emotional changes during pregnancy. The kind of food she eats is very important. Fruits are a real friend at this important time. Fruits which contain vitamin C strengthen the bones, tissues, muscles and blood vessels. Vitamin C is very essential during pregnancy. It is found in blueberries, oranges, apples, grapefruit, peaches, strawberries, and melon.

Fruit juices help in the overall body mechanism and avoid constipation. A cup or more daily should be good. We all know that fruit intake helps to improve our immunity. Fruit juices could prevent upper respiratory tract infection.

"In general, pregnant women should eat a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables," says Dr. Philip Landrigan, professor of pediatrics at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. "
