Every year we celebrate World Food Safety Day on 7th June, It is the need of the hour, Do we realize the importance of food safety in our daily life. Let us all ponder upon this alarming situation. Every day we come across so many articles online and offline on food poisoning, rotten and stale food been served in restaurants, Children falling sick after eating street foods which were raw and not prepared in a hygienic manner.
Do we really understand how crucial it is to educate everyone around us. We need to inculcate good and healthy eating practices among our children as they are the future of our country. We need to take steps in order to eradicate such cases in near future. Food poisoning is also a leading cause of death among many children. Eating outlets and factory owners should make it a point in producing safe and edible food products. Food handlers working in food industries, restaurant and food vendors should ensure the safety of the food everywhere at all times. Food is meant to be safe and secure from contaminants which can be deadly if not identified. Proper care and strategies need to be implemented in order to safeguard the health and well-being of every individual. Schools should initiate on eating healthy and nutritious food which can be prepared at home with utmost care. They should also include the subject on the importance of food safety in their curriculum. Professional courses and interactive session with parents and children should be conducted in order to create more awareness among them. Training and Education will have an positive impact on the purchasing power of the consumers as well as a assured responsibility from the manufactures to produce best quality food products with utmost care.
Recently I was browsing through social networking sites I was taken a back by reading two incidents which were caused by human negligence. One was about a Ice Factory which was banned as the ice cream had a human finger in it. Secondly I read about rodents found in the meals served by the railways. I was shocked after reading such incidents still the government or the regulatory bodies are not taking proper steps in order to stop or prevent such cases. We should all join hands and start a campaign against these violators who are directly or indirectly harming the health of the community. This is very important issue as food is consumed by everyone irrespective of class or caste. It should be readily accessible to everyone in a safe and hygiene manner. This could only be possible if everyone takes initiative in putting their efforts in producing, manufacturing, delivering and consuming in the correct form. It is not the whole sole responsibility of the manufacturer but the whole society so that food borne illness can be stopped and good health and prosperity prevails everywhere.
Food is actually a bridge which connects the community together. Hence it is the utmost priority and responsibility of everyone who is connected with food. The food products must be handled with care, safely and hygiene practices must be followed in order to ensure the quality and stability of the food product .There for cases of food poisoning, food borne illness can be reduced to a certain extent. We should spread the awareness of food safety in schools, food industries, food vendors and other food outlets in order to secure the food and make it sustainable for all human mankind.
