Fish is considered to be one the delicious and healthy foods. Fish is generally low in calories. Tuna, salmon and sardines are good sources of omega-3 fatty acids.

 

Fish improves cardiac health, lowers blood pressure and certain cancer risks, etc. There are lots of benefits from fish eating.

 

Any non-vegetarian food is best when cooked fresh. Fish should also be consumed fresh. When you go the market to buy fish, there are certain ways to find whether the fish is fresh or not. The first thing is, smell. You must smell the fish. When the fish is fresh, you would get sweet smell. The smell should be that of an ocean. Any bad smell would signal that the fish has passed its prime. Secondly, you must give a good look at the fish. Fresh fish would have bright eyes and firm flesh. Fish fillets should be bright looking with no discoloration. Thirdly, freeze the fish. Fish can be stored in the refrigerator for a day or two. If the fish has to stay longer than this period, wrap it well in a freezer paper. These are some of the ways to identify and eat good fish.

 

So, next time you go to the market to buy fish, do remember to buy the best ones. Fresh!
