Unhygienic conditions in the salon can actually cause untold damage to your beauty. We all love to be pampered and we don’t want to do it our selves and for this reason we love to go to salons.  But beauty salons are not safe havens where you can close your eyes and simply relax. Visiting salons for our pampering sessions have become a part and parcel of our lives. We should remember that because of poor hygiene salons have become the breeding ground bacterial and fungal infection.

Dermatalogist Rekha Seth says, “When ever we step into the salon no matter how plush and reputed it is, it is important to know whether they are giving you fresh towels or not, whether the bed sheets and wash basins are clean or not and we should also be careful about the expiry dates of the creams that are going to be applied on us. Negligence of all these hygiene can lead to severe rashes on the skin.”

All the staffs of a salon should be well trained, well dressed and well-groomed. The gadgets should be the latest one. The air in the salon should not be stale instead it should be fresh and well circulated. If the salon staffs refuse to use well sterilized towels and instruments there are chances that you might end up having a fungal nail infection. Always go for disposable wax strips.

When you go for a hair treatment see it that the wash basin is clean, the towel is fresh and all the scissors and combs are sterilized. Faulty techniques used in semi-trained salons can often lead to fungal skin infection or allergies. Be careful when you are getting your waxing done also because faulty techniques can lead to rashes and severe skin infection. It is important to check that the wax is not very hot because if it is very hot it can lead to temporary burning of the skin. Check the expiry date and the power of the facial pack. Be cautious about the quality of the product that is being used. Last but not the least you should never hesitate to ask question to the beautician and do not go ahead for skin or hair unless and until you are hundred percent convinced.
