Watch out for oversights that add up. People are often in denial about what they ate. They purposely under report what they ate or they just don’t realize. This can happen even with healthy foods. The difference between small and large apple can be 50 healthy calories.

When a food is forbidden, you give it more power. If you are craving something go for quality and not quantity. When you are craving for a chocolate –don’t go for the cheap mega size one instead opt for a small good one.

Display your fat photographs. An unflattering snap may have motivated you to go on a diet. So don’t cheat. Put your fat photographs on the refrigerator, inside your snack box and you will automatically stop yourself from eating all thing wrong.

Write down your goals. Eating right and exercising takes time. Write down why you want to lose weight. If you are really suffering from low self confidence it becomes absolutely necessary for you to lose weight. Write down the reasons why you started a diet. Make copies of your list and place them where you can see them every day.

Bounce back even if you have eaten wrong on a specific day. Many people quit their diet when they eat a big meal or splurge on a dessert, but that should not be done. Remember if you were teaching your child to ride a bi-cycle and if he falls down, will you criticize him and tell him to give up. Remember nobody is perfect. There will be times when you will end up eating the wrong things, but you should come back firmly on the track.

Find substitutes for your cravings. Have popcorns instead of chips. Popcorns are lower in calories and higher in fibre. Have a piece of dark chocolate instead on a normal chocolate.

Following a diet becomes difficult when your social calendar is filled with dinner dates, lunch dates, after-work cocktails and Sunday brunches, following a diet is difficult. Socializing should not end with food. Invite your friends for a walk or a yoga or swimming session together. Even when you are eating out, just be savvy. People think that they cannot diet when they are eating out, but that is not the true story. The true story is you cannot stop yourself from eating wrong food that leads to weight gain.
