                                                  DIABETES MELLITUS                                                                                                  

DIABETES MELLITUS: it is a disease condition in which blood sugar levels are increaed more than the normal levels.the normal blood sugar levels include 70 to 100 mg/dl for fasting blood sugar and 100 to 140 for postprandial blood sugar levels.

TYPES OF DIABETES: The most common types include -

* TYPE 1 DIABETES

* TYPE 2 DIABETES

* GESTATIONAL DIABETES

Now lets have a brief about.                                                                                                                                       Type Type 1 diabetes : it is an auto immune disorder.due to this beta cells of pancreas which make insulin are destroyed leading to decreased amount of insulin our body                                                                                          Type 2 diabetes : it is a disease condition in which our body doesnt produce enough amount of insulin our body.

SYMPTOMS:

MOST COMMONLY SYMPTOMS INCLUDE:

* DECREASED WOUND HEALING

* POLYURIA

* POLYDYPSIA

* POLYPHAGIA

* LOOSING WEIGHT INSPITE OF EATING WELL

* INCREAED APPETITE

* BLURRED VISION

* INCREASED PASSAGE OF URINE ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT TIMES.

CAUSES OF DIABETES

* Decreased secretion of insulin in our body

* Obesity

* Hereditary causes

DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA:

The following tests are to be done to diagnose diabetes -

* FASTING BLOOD SUGAR:Which is usually done before eating. The values vary between 70 to 100 mg/dl.

POST PRANDIAL BLOOD SUGAR: Whch is usually done 2 hrs after eating. the values vary between 100 to 140 mg/dl

HBA1C: it is used to diagnose blood sugar levels usally 3 months . the values vary below 5 for non diabetic persons. between 6 for pre diabetic persons and above 7 for diabetic persons

MANAGMENT: The most important part while dealing with diabetes because the medications will never be enough to control diabetes. the following steps are to be followed to tackle diabetes

* Have sufficinet amount of sleep

* Exercise regularly

* Reduce intake of sugar levels 

* Practice yoga and meditation
