Can’t do without Bread!

Bread is my comfort food. The new age dieticians may make the breads as villains for good health, but for me it is my day starter and my friends know how I can’t just resist the yummy aroma of freshly baked breads. I feel it is very handy and I can quickly make a vegetable sandwich or a chicken sandwich or a fancy rainbow sandwich for my son’s lunch box.  It acts as an excellent binding agent when you are making cutlets for a tea party. Bread crumbs adds to the crispness of starters whether you are making paneer sticks or chicken nuggets for a party.

Bread is not all that bad and I am not saying that because I am a bread lover. Hard toast with lots of butter, sausages and egg has been my favourite breakfast ever since my childhood.  When I am hungry in the middle of the night, I take out a slice of bread and spread a generous amount of mayonnaise on it and have it and my hunger is gone.  Bread has carbohydrates which gives us energy, fibre which helps us t digest food, calcium which is essential for healthy teeth and bones. It has iron which is good for the formation of red blood cells. It is rich in protein and has vitamin B which provides muscular energy to the body.

Bread forms a complete meal if you have it with the right accompaniments like a boiled egg or an omelet or may be a scrambled egg with lots of veggies. Egg is rich in protein and vitamin D, a must for calcium absorption in the body. You can make a healthy sandwich with chicken and veggies or may be just mint and coriander chutney. Then it will become an excellent source of protein, vitamins and minerals. So there is nothing to feel guilty if you love breads.
