Blood collection and transfusion is critically involved in therapeutic utilization of blood products in patients which is solely dependent on voluntary blood donations.
Since this precious element cannot be synthesized artificially, a good donor pool is required to substitute this valuable need. Students make a large group of population for voluntary non-renumerated blood donations. Different factors influence their attitude, behaviour and motivational factors regarding blood donation.
Critical shortage of blood along with its momentous utilization requires scrutiny of awareness and perception of blood donation among students from different streams so that execution for the same can be appraised.
Right now, India is facing an immense challenge in collection and proper utilization of blood products. It needs urgent formulation of methods and ideas to enhance blood donation amongst the youth.
