Why is kidney so important for human body?

Kidney is one of the most important organs in human body. It has very important physiological functions. The three major functions are as follows:

1. Kidney can produce urine and discharge the Metabolic Product inside the body;

Kidney is like a filter, the blood in the body flows through it every five minutes. When the blood flows through the glomerulus, the rest materials and moisture in the blood, except the Hemocyte and Protein, will become original Urine. When the original Urine flows through the Kidney Tubules, the Kidney Tubules will reabsorb the useful materials including most of the Moister, Glucose, Amino Acid, Chloridion, Sodion, Potassium ion by the reabsorption and secretion function, at the same time, will discharge the Hydrogen ion, Ammonia, Potassium as well as some drug and toxic substance into Kidney Tubules liquid, which will become Later Urine with the metabolic waste and will be discharged out of the body.

When there is illness in Kidney the renal Excretory Function will be affected, all kinds of Metabolic Waste and Toxin will accumulate inside the body, thus leading to all kinds of clinical symptoms.

2. Keep the Water, Electrolyte and Acid-base balance of the body;

The kidneys regulate the water balance of the body by the Glomerular Filtration function and the Renal Tubular Reabsorption function. When there is renal Dysfunction, the symptoms will appear such as Polyuria, Oligurie and Edema etc.

The kidney keeps the Electrolyte Metabolism and Acid-base balance of the body by the Glomerular Filtration function and the Renal Tubular Reabsorption and Endocrine function. When there is Renal Dysfunction, all kinds of the clinical symptoms will appear such as Metabolic Disturbance and Acid-base Disturbances etc.

3. The kidney can produce many kinds of hormone, which takes part in the Physiological Activity such as adjusting Blood Pressure and Hemopoiesis;

The kidney secretes Hemopoietin, which promotes the Marrow cells to grow into Red Blood cells more quickly. When there is chronic Nephritis, the production of Hemopoietin will decrease, thus Renal Anemia will appear.

The kidney can activate the Vitamin D. The function of Vitamin D is to adjust Metabolism of Calcium and Phosphorus, promote the Calcium and Phosphorus to deposit in the bones, thus calcify the bone tissues. But the Vitamin D taken in the body has no Bioactivity itself, it can’t come into play until it is activated by the liver and kidney in the body. Patient who has long term kidney disease, his kidney’s ability to activate the Vitamin D becomes weak, and his bone tissues can’t be fully calcified, and then there will be Renal Rickets.

The kidney can secrete Renin. When the kidney lack blood or the Blood Pressure drops, the kidney will secrete Renin, which makes the blood vessels shrink and thus makes the Blood Pressure rise. In some kidney disease (such as Renal Arteriosclerosis), because of the lack of blood in the kidney, the secretory volume of renin will increase, which will lead to Renal Hypertension.

The kidney is so important to human body, so we should discover the Kidney Disease as soon as possible.

Whether the Detoxification function of the kidney is damaged or not,we can judge it by testing the Urine Protein. If it appears, it shows damage of the Renal Function, at the same time it also shows a danger of Circulatory Function Damage of the heart. Renal Function Damage needs timely treatment, in order to avoid it developing to Renal Failure.

However, there are no obvious symptoms in the early-stage of the Renal Function Damage, so it is easy to be ignored. If you want to test whether your renal function is damaged, you can go to the hospital to take a physical examination, or you can buy the reagent from the pharmacy and test the urine. Especially for the old persons, they should go to the hospital regularly to test the Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar as well as the Renal Function.

The kidney is so important that we should pay more attention to protect it in the daily life. Here are some tips:

1. Drink more plain boiled water and less beverage containing caffeine.

2. Drink less alcohol.

3. Actively control the blood pressure

4. Delicate food is favorable.

5. Sufficient sleep.

6. Keep the waist warm.

7. Often do waist exercise.

8. Don’t abuse drugs that are bad for kidney.

9. Prevent urinary tract infection.

10. Moderate sexual life. (End)
