Turmeric is grown primarily in south East Asia. In India, it has been used for over 2500 years. Its medicinal qualities are known for centuries. Turmeric is added in most of Indian curry dishes.

Curcumin, which is the main ingredient in turmeric, provides health benefits. It has natural antioxidant, antibacterial and inflammatory qualities. Turmeric supports liver health, applied for healthy skin and prevents bad cholesterol. Research is being done to find out whether turmeric could block melanoma growth and various other cancers. It decreases childhood leukemia risk, prevents or delays the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Chinese used turmeric to treat depression.

Turmeric has its negative effects also. People with gallstones should not use turmeric.

Well, turmeric has many benefits. It is easily available and serves to be an important part of human health.
