The Power of Two......The Secret to a Happy Family......

How many of us as parents have thought a thousand times on the idea of having a second child? I know in this fast paced society, no one has the time to plan their second child as they are busy focusing on their careers and so on. But most of us are not aware of the fact that choice of having a second child has its own advantages.

After having undergone the trials of having our first child my husband and me were convinced that we would never have a second one. But then we gave it a second thought weighed the pros and cons. I genuinely wanted a companion for my older daughter though at the back of my mind I was dreading those sleepless nights, changing of diapers and so on.

Siblings share a special bond with each other. When I watch my children grow today there is a sense of satisfaction within me. No doubt there are moments of conflicts and fights among them but they are the best of friends. These minute conflicts will help them to resolve and manage their emotions further in their lives.

The older child provides an emotional back up for the younger one by helping him or her through difficult times and by providing guidance in their own childish way. Siblings can offer love, friendship, understanding and support to each other in a way that parents cannot. Research has proved that siblings tend to be more sharing, helpful and positive in life. They are more empathetic towards others. Their social skills are also improved.

Having a family and growing together can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in life. It’s so much fun to be in the company of your kids, be it planning a tour, having a snack together, playing a game or even having an interesting conversation together.

No matter what so ever happens in life we know for sure that our kids will have each other as a companion and a friend for life.
