Manuka honey is five times better than ordinary honey. The presence of an extra and naturally occurring active ingredient (UMF) makes this honey distinct from other honeys. Exposure to heat, light and dilution does not affect the potency of Manuka honey. It is 100% natural with no known side-effects.

It has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties so help fight the infection if it is taken as soon as the first sign of cold appears.

Manuka honey does wonders in treating wounds. It can heal even the hardest to heal infections such as MSRA and other antibiotic-resistant conditions. The high sugar content in the honey creates a waterless environment in which the bacteria which are infecting a wound are unable to survive. The presence of hydrogen peroxide action because of an enzyme called glucose oxidase which is acidic adds to its unique antibacterial properties.

A pressure ulcer (bed sore) can also be treated with the help of manuka honey.

Manuka honey can be used to successfully treat eye infections, ear infections and even sinus infections. Since the honey does not lose its anti-bacterial property even when diluted with water it can be thoroughly mixed with water and used as eye-drops to treat eye infections. Similarly this same preparation can be used to flush the nasal passage with a neti pot. Manuka honey with UMF ranging from 10-16 should be used for this purpose.

Manuka honey can help with outburst of acne. Its anti-bacterial properties help in healing acne.

Manuka honey is beneficial for cancer patients as well. In some cases radiation therapy can cause sores and open wounds on the skin. Applying honey speeds up the healing process.

Since psoriasis is an inflammatory condition of the skin, regular application of manuka honey can prove to be an effective natural remedy for psoriasis.

Taking a teaspoonful of manuka honey about 20minutes before meals helps people with recurrent heartburn and acid-reflux.

To get relief from morning sickness mix 1 tablespoon (tsp) of ginger juice, 1 tsp of fresh lime juice, 1 tsp of mint juice and 1 tsp of manuka honey. Take this mixture for 3-4 times a day. This will help relieve morning sickness.

Note- There is clinical proof for the effectiveness of some of the treatments. However not all the treatments have been clinically proved.
