Organic food is prepared according to the norms set down by an organic certifying body. It is food prepared and processed without any chemicals. It does not have any chemical fertilizers or preservatives.
The common question that comes to our mind is that is organic food better than conventional food. Scientific research has also not been able to prove that organic food is healthier than conventional food. The exceptions are organic milk and tomatoes. Researchers at the University of California has found out that organic tomatoes had higher levels of Vitamin C and phytochemicals than conventional tomatoes.
We have read about many studies that have attempted to compare conventional and organic systems of farming. The general conclusions drawn from these surveys is that organic farming is less damaging because organic farms do not consume or release synthetic pesticides into the environment- some of which can damage the soil, water and local terrestrial aquatic wildlife. Also, organic farms are better at sustaining diverse ecosystems.
So it’s time to go organic!
