Fruits to Relieve Constipation

A healthy person should have bowel movement at least once a day. Constipation is a serious condition that can cause hemorrhoids, anal fissures or rectal bleeding. So if you are constipated do not neglect the situation and wait for your constipation to get worse. Drink plenty of water and eat lots of green vegetables and fruits.

 

Fruits like apples, plums and prunes will help you with your constipation problem.

 

Apple

 

We have always heard that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. This fruit really does wonders to help prevent constipation.

 

An apple does not provide instant relief from constipation. However it is a perfect example of the type of food that will help people with chronic constipation. An apple is rich in fiber and contains a lot of water. The tannins in apples also help to move things along.

 

Prunes

 

Like apples, prunes are also a good source of dietary fiber. Besides being rich in fiber they contain a natural laxative called dihydrophenylisatin. Therefore eating prunes proves beneficial for people suffering from constipation.

 

Prune juice might also be helpful. Though it does not contain much fiber, it contains the laxative. Just in case you experience too much relief after eating prunes or having prune juice then limit your intake.
