Caffeine or Energy Drinks! Pros and Cons on Health

Many a times we get stuck up with some questions like does the health drinks really help in increasing energy levels in the body? The answer remains unpredictable.

Many studies have shown some selected products those have some effects on the body but overdose may cause some unwanted complications too. If taken for more than required dose, these drinks might disturb the normal functioning of the body.

Lets discuss some side effects of the caffeinated drinks on health.

1.Increased heart rate- The caffeinated drinks are tasty to consume but they contain high amount of carbonated constituents which triggers the electrical conductivity of the heart.Thus increasing the heart rate unnecessarily. So, it is advised not to take energy drinks just before any games or workout as it might delay the post heart rate recovery.

2. Insomnia- Due to intake of excess amount of caffeine, people suffer from sleeplessness which disturbs the normal sleep wake cycle . This causes a lot of complications in body from gastric issues to stress and anxiety too. And it is advisable to avoid caffeinated drinks minimum 2 hours prior to bed time. It can be consumed once in a day during the highest active stage. During night time, digestion slows down that's why carbonated drinks should be avoided.

3. Muscle cramps- Caffeine causes dehydration in the body which results in muscle cramping. The cramps are very much dull aching . Mostly abdomens and calf muscles get affected. Due to dehydration, the muscles loose their properties and reduction in strength is seen. The neural activity in muscles also gets affected due to which muscle imbalance occurs resulting in dysfynction of the body.

4. Indigestion and chest burn- Many people experience some sort of chest burning sensation after frequent caffeine constituent items. People who work over time at office tend to consume coffee more . So, it reduces the appetite and increases the release of gastric enzymes in the body which causes complications like reflux and indigestion. This also affects the weight of the person (either weight gain or weight loss).

5. Skin Erruptions- Caffeine contains some inflammatory particles which causes reactionary effects on the skin and many females complain getting some skin rashes or pimples after using caffeine for long term. There might be pore clogging that occurs due to accumulation of the dirt due to dehydration caused due to constant intake of caffeine.

6. Effect on the nervous system- Our body needs rest when not working. So, physical exhaustion and rest interval is important in everyday life. So, caffeine creates mis conduct in the synaptic connection in the nervous system. So, long term effect of these energy drinks or caffeine is uprooting the main controlling unit of the body too. So, we need take in normal water to improve hydration and induce the relaxin hormones in the body instead of keeping the body in alert mode every time.

7. Anxiety and stress- Due to effect on the nervous system, caffeine also causes severe anxiousness and stress as the mind forgets to rest in intervals. Irritability is also found in many people due to over use of the caffeine.

8. Increased glucose level - The energy drinks contain sugars more than any micro nutrients, so more intake causes increased glucose level in the body too. Thus, opening the way for Diabetes in future.

As per the above mentioned points, Caffeine or any energy drinks prove to be more dangerous rather than giving any benefit to the body. So, it is always advisable to take these drinks in limited dosage and avoid over drinking to stay away from any of the complications (both physical and mental). So, It's up to you how much healthy you want to keep your body.
