How to keep your marriage life long and happy? Well I have an answer for it. Believe it or not, these men and women swear by the joys of continuous, slow, full body lovemaking, also known as Tantric sex. Read on to find out more about this technique that is helping couples the world over to revitalize their relationships.

Lord Shiva 5,000 years ago developed 112 methods of meditation, through which one could enter the state of super consciousness. Some of the methods included the act of sex. Very simply explained, the entire spiritual path of Tantra is the harmonious union of the male and female principles in all of us. Now the most obvious question that arises is why is the world so overtly obsessed about sex? Does the fulfillment which one gets through it give him or her the happiness and joy that is inaccessible through any other medium? This made the devoted yogis find an answer to it. They tried to give a correct direction to the sexual urge through Tantra. If one practices Tantric sex and masters certain techniques then our sexual life will become a route to spiritual enlightenment.

The science of Tantric sex has two main branches- vama marga and dakshina marga.  The former is the left sided path which combines sexual life with yogic practices in order to explore the dormant energy centres, namely ‘Kundalini’, ‘chakras’ and ‘nadis’. Dakshina marga is the right sided path that encourages sexual abstinence. Earlier the latter was more popular because of many prejudices around sex. Today the most popular and sought after one even in the west is the ‘Vama marga’ which utilizes sexual life for spiritual development. Vama marga uses sex to awaken the ‘Kundalini’ (the serpent power or the Universal creative energy hidden in the root chakra at the base of the spine).

According to Tantra, sexual life has a threefold purpose. Some practice it for procreation, others for pleasure, but a Tantricyogi practices it to achieve ‘samadhi’. One who practices Tantric sex believes it as a part of sadhana or spiritual exercise, but at the same time realizes that for spiritual purposes orgasm must be maintained.

Tantric yoga has multiple benefits. Tantra helps in improving the quality of sex life both physically and mentally. Tantra helps women to explore their sexual potential to the fullest. Tantric yoga helps to deal with the problem of weak erection and premature ejaculation in men. Various tantric techniques of strengthening the pelvic muscles, erectile tissue and developing the sphincter control can help correct the problem. It also helps to solve the problem of low libido.

Is this applicable for male and female or just for men. Is samadhi achieved after the state of orgasm or is it another form of spiritual orgasm.
