10 Self Care Tips for Dark Circles

In several cases dehydration is the cause of dark circles. Drinking plenty of water, atleast 8-10 glasses of water per day rehydrates the body and keeps the skin moist. The dark circles will disappear when body is adequately rehydrated.

 

Inadequate sleep can often lead to dark circles. A good night sleep for about 7-8 hours will help the dark circles to vanish.

 

Restrict your intake of salt. Salt dehydrates the body by fluid retention.

 

Include proteins, fresh fruits and green vegetables in your diet. Good diet with sufficient nutrients helps to keep the dark circles away.

 

Daily application of a good moisturizer on the dark circles keeps the skin under the eyes moist and helps to lighten the dark circles.

 

Avoid consumption of caffeine and alcohol as they dehydrate the body.

 

Dark circles can also be caused due to stress. Resort to ‘yoga’ and ‘pranayama’ to reduce your stress and thus get rid of dark circles.

 

Sunlight causes dark circles, therefore always wear a cap with a sun shade when you go out in sun.

 

Dip two cotton balls in cucumber juice or potato juice or rose water. Keep them on the eyes covering the dark circles. This is a very effective remedy for treating dark circles.

 

Mix orange lentil flour (masoor dal) and a pinch of turmeric powder with few drops of lemon and tomato juice. Apply a thin layer of this paste on the under eye dark circles. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash off with cold water.
