Indian kids are sadly lacking in outdoor fitness activities like sports and games. Parents and teachers lay a great premium on academic activities and kids grow up carrying heavy bags to schools and tuition centers thinking that studying is all that there is to life.

With fast decreasing playing compounds at home and in neighbouring areas and a corresponding increase in extracurricular activities based on academics, children are getting less disenchanted with physical games. Kids these days either become “couch potatoes” before the television or enjoy playing violent TV and video games by way of sport.

Aditya Patil, India’s youngest car racer, addressing kids on child obesity, encouraged kids to keep their bodies running and their minds racing. It is common knowledge that MacDonalds, KFC and other fast food joints are being heavily patronized by kids worldwide. But to beat child obesity, kids should be encouraged to play more and burn calories faster to stay healthy and fit.
